La Senda Verde, where more than 850 rescued wild animals have their home, was barely coming out of the economic drought caused by the political disturbances that occurred in Bolivia in 2019, which took them to create the campaign Wild Calling.

Visits to the refuge had been stabilised and again income was being generated which is crucial to feed all of the animals that live there. It was then that the Tarkus Enclosure campaign begun to gather 10,000 dollars for the construction of a new electric fence for our newly arrived male bear, which then had to be stopped.

Unfortunately the coronavirus pandemic has spread throughout the world, closing absolutely everything in it, which then forced Senda Verde to close its gates on March 16th to protect people and animals throughout.

As a result, the sanctuary won’t be generating funds from visits and from the ecolodge, and probably volunteer visits will also be reduced in the coming months.

Without government funding, the wildlife sanctuary is then forced to seek solidarity from people abroad, with whom it will be possible to stock on supplies to overcome the contingency.

Senda Verde then makes a calling for people everywhere to not forget about the animals who are innocent victims of human actions and who are also severely disadvantaged with today’s coronavirus situation.

Visit the campaign page so may read the inspiring text written by Marcelo Levy and if it’s in your possibility, please support with a donation.
