HOW TO GET HERE?

By car

It’s pretty simple but I’m going to try to be as detailed as possible.

Drive to the neighbourhood of Villa Fatima, and continue on the main road, it eventually becomes the main road to the Yungas region. You will pass the Minasa bus station and soon after the police check-point, where you will need to show your driver’s licence, a fire extinguisher and first aid kit. You will also need to pay a small fee. Continue on this road, you will climb to the summit at 4,600 m.a.s.l. and then you will begin to descend. You will pass two more road blocks, one police and one drug check. Continue on the main paved road for a while, until you have descended all of the mountain. Once you come close to the river valley, you will cross a bridge and arrive to a place called Yolosita, where cars stop and there are many things for sale on the street. From here you want to turn sharp left, right after the police station, and continue on the road that goes to Coroico for about 500 meters. Where it starts climbing, there is a dirt road detour to the right. Take that road and continue for three kilometers, you will see the Senda Verde Sign and the entrance to the parking lot. You may park here.

By Bus

STEP 1: MINASA

Go to the Minasa Station in Villa Fatima. To get there you may take a Taxi from where you are, it should cost some 20 BS or you can take any mini-bus that says “Terminal Minasa”.

STEP 2: STEP 2 YOLOSITA OR COROICO

From minasa you may take any vehicle that goes to COROICO. There are mini-vans and vans, depending on the vehicle, the cost, which should range between 25-40 BS. You can go all the way to Coroico or get off at Yolosita. In step 3 I will explain what to do in both cases. Another option is to take any bus that is going to the north of the country (Yucumo, Rurrenabaque, Riberalta, Cobija) and get off in YOLOSITA. These buses sometimes stop at minasa but they depart from their own stations in the Villa Fatima neighbourhood. This is the cheapest option, it should cost around 15-20 BS.

STEP 3: LA SENDA VERDE

From Yolosita

It’s only 3 kilometers away. You may choose to walk, it should take an hour; follow the driving instructions above if you choose to hike. Otherwise you may wait for a “Colectivo” transport that should cost around 10 BS but takes a while to pass by. Final and maybe best option is to hire a Taxi from Yolosita that will cost around 30-40 BS to La Senda Verde.

From Coroico

From town, half a block down from the main plaza are the colectivos that wait to fill-up that leave you in La Senda Verde for 10-15 BS. Otherwise you may hire a Taxi that will cost 40-50 BS. Consider the convenience of taxis if you’re more than one person.
