On Monday 13th of January 2020, a Kinkajou arrived to Senda Verde. The small tree mammal had been kidnapped from the wild, some people picked it up in a river in Chimoré and wanted to kill it to sell its body parts as amulets.
Fortunately the animal was rescued by the Environmental Secretary of Cochabamba before it was killed, this happened in September, and was then taken care of while permissions were processed and funds gathered to transport it to a wildlife refuge, in this case Senda Verde.
The political disturbances in Bolivia prevented the animal from being transported until yesterday. The male juvenile Kinkajou arrived in a good state of health. The new resident will be in quarantine until it can join the other animals.
